We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired Word of God, breathed out by God Himself, and therefore wholly true and trustworthy. The Bible is sufficient, clear, authoritative, and final in all matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living. Scripture alone is the supreme judge by which all controversies of religion are to be determined.
Scripture References:
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 19:7–11; Isaiah 8:20; Matthew 5:18
We believe in one only living and true God, infinite in being and perfection, pure spirit, invisible, immutable, eternal, and almighty. This one God eternally exists in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—of one substance, power, and glory. Each Person is fully God, yet God is one.
Scripture References:
Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5–7; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1–3; 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe that God, from all eternity, did by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will freely and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass, yet without being the author of sin or violating the will of His creatures. God continually upholds, directs, and governs all things according to His perfect wisdom and for His own glory.
Scripture References:
Ephesians 1:11; Romans 11:33–36; Proverbs 16:33; Acts 2:23; Hebrews 1:3
We believe that God created all things—visible and invisible—out of nothing, by the word of His power, in the space of six days, and all very good. Humanity was created male and female in the image of God, endowed with knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, and given dominion over creation under God’s authority.
Scripture References:
Genesis 1:1–31; Genesis 2:7, 18–25; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 11:3
We believe that our first parents sinned by transgressing God’s command, resulting in the fall of all mankind. Through Adam’s disobedience, sin, guilt, and death entered the world. All people are now conceived in sin, spiritually dead, and wholly inclined toward evil, unable to do any spiritual good apart from the regenerating grace of God.
Scripture References:
Genesis 3; Romans 3:10–18; Romans 5:12–19; Ephesians 2:1–3; Psalm 51:5
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, united in one Person without confusion or division. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, fulfilled the Law, and offered Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice for His people. By His death, He accomplished definite redemption, fully satisfying God’s justice. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now intercedes as the only Mediator between God and men.
Scripture References:
John 1:14; Philippians 2:6–11; Hebrews 4:15; Isaiah 53; John 10:14–18; 1 Timothy 2:5
We believe that salvation is entirely of the Lord. God, according to His sovereign good pleasure, chose in Christ a definite people before the foundation of the world. Christ redeemed those whom the Father had given Him, and the Holy Spirit effectually applies this redemption by calling, regenerating, justifying, sanctifying, and glorifying them.
Scripture References:
Ephesians 1:3–6; Romans 8:29–30; John 6:37–39; Acts 13:48
We believe that those whom God has predestined are effectually called by His Word and Spirit out of their state of sin and death into life and salvation through Jesus Christ. This call is not based on foreseen faith or works but is a sovereign act of grace whereby the sinner is made willing and able to believe.
Scripture References:
John 3:3–8; Ezekiel 36:26–27; Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 1:23–24
We believe that justification is an act of God’s free grace, wherein He pardons all our sins and accepts us as righteous in His sight solely on the basis of Christ’s imputed righteousness, received by faith alone. Sanctification is the gracious and lifelong work of God’s Spirit, whereby believers are progressively renewed in the whole man after the image of Christ.
Scripture References:
Romans 3:24–28; Romans 5:1; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Hebrews 10:14
We believe that those whom God has accepted in Christ and effectually called by His Spirit will certainly persevere in faith to the end. They may fall into sin for a time, but they shall never be finally lost, being preserved by God’s power through faith.
Scripture References:
John 10:27–29; Romans 8:35–39; Philippians 1:6; Jude 24
We believe that the universal Church is the body of Christ, consisting of all the elect redeemed by His blood. Local churches are congregations of baptized believers, united by faith, governed by Christ, and gathered for worship, preaching, fellowship, prayer, and the ordinances. Christ alone is the Head of the Church.
Scripture References:
Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:41–47; Ephesians 1:22–23; Colossians 1:18
We believe that baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ and entrusted to the local church. Baptism is for those who personally profess repentance toward God and faith in Christ and is administered by immersion. The Lord’s Supper is to be observed regularly as a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice and a means of spiritual nourishment for believers.
Scripture References:
Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 8:36–38; Romans 6:3–4; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
We believe that God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by Jesus Christ. The dead will be raised bodily. The righteous will enter eternal life in the presence of God, and the wicked will suffer eternal punishment. Christ will return personally, visibly, and gloriously.
Scripture References:
Acts 17:31; Matthew 25:31–46; John 5:28–29; Revelation 20:11–15
We believe that the ultimate purpose of all things is the glory of God alone. From creation to redemption to final consummation, God displays the riches of His grace for the praise of His glorious name.
